We met Zayd for the first time in Cape Town in August 2006 when he was our family guide during a booked tour to the township Khayelitsha and a part of the Cape peninsula the next day. After these two days we said goodbye. When in early 2024 we decided to visit South Africa once again we out of curiosity googled Zayd's name and we subsequently re-established contact with him in Germany. Those contacts led to us booking Zayd for an 18 days fully private and guided tour in the Western Cape, during which we did (almost) everything we wanted to do and did not do in 2006. We jointly put the program together, taking into account our specific wishes. A big advantage of a private guided tour is flexibility and the possibility of visiting places/spots you will never visit unless the program allows, you to and you have a guide who is familiar with them. You can also have the free time you want. Another advantage is that Zayd did all the driving, so we could relax, make pictures during stops and al all times look around at the fantastic scenery and spectacular views. During our tour we chose to stay in Cape Town, Tulbagh, Oudtshoorn, Knysna, Swellendam, Stellenbosch and ended our trip in Cape Town again. Apart from those places we saw many more very beautiful spots/views along the way when we visited e.g. Table Mountain, Cape Point/Cape of Good Hope, the Klein Karoo, Robberg Nature Reserve, beaches, wine estates/tastings, the botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch, Rust-en-Vrede waterfall and the Swartberg Mountains. Unfortunately, the weather kept us away from Robben Island. Zayd himself is the perfect guide: he knows his business and is flexible, thoughtful, communicative and helpful. He showed us many things of beauty which the Western Cape has to offer. Our trip with Zayd as our guide and driver was in every respect what we dreamt of and hoped for, a trip we shall always remember.
